| BEGINNER'S CROCHET: Sundays: 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm $80.00 November 2 & 9 or December 7 & 14 or January 4 & 11 or 18 & 25 Learn the basics of crochet: Chain stitch, single and double crochet, triple crochet and slip stitch. Required text: How to Crochet (Revised Volume 3) The National Needlework Association. Required materials: 2.5 oz of smooth, light-colored sport or worsted weight yarn. Appropriate size crochet hook (see yarn label for suggested size). Pen, pencil and paper (for notes). INTERMEDIATE STITCHES: Sundays: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm (2 sessions) $75.00 (By appointment only) In this class, you’ll take the basic stitches to another level, combining them into various patterns, as well as learning textured stitches. Ability to execute basic stitches and general pattern reading is required. Required materials: 6 oz of smooth, light-colored sport or worsted weight yarn. Appropriate size crochet hook (see yarn label for suggested size). Pen, pencil and paper (for notes). CROCHET BAG: Fridays: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm $75.00 (+ $5.00 original pattern) November 21 & 28 or December 19 & January 2 or January 23 & 30 Learn a variety of techniques and skills while making a stylish one-of-a-kind bag. Topics will include different crochet stitches, shaping options, working charts and finishing bag techniques, such as zipper installation, interfacing and lining. CROCHET PATTERN READING: Sundays: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm $25.00 (By appointment only) Learn to read and understand written crochet patterns. Learn the most commonly used abbreviations and what is the difference between US and UK terminology. Please bring light-colored yarn and appropriate-sized crochet hook. CROCHET PONCHO: Sundays: 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm (2 sessions) $75.00 (+$ 5.00 original pattern) (By appointment only) Learn the basic construction of a poncho. Discover how to incorporate a pattern into the poncho design. Practice increasing stitches. Create decorative finishes to embellish your poncho. The knowledge of basic single crochet is helpful. Required materials: Worsted weight yarn, (H or I crochet hook (or other yarn with appropriate-sized crochet hook), 4 safety pins or stitch markers, scissors, tape measure, pen. CROCHET LACE SHAWL: Tuesdays: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm $75.00 (+ $5.00 for original pattern) November 4 & 11 or December 2 & 9 or January 6 & 13 In this class you can choose one of 3 original crochet lace shawls: Solomon's Knot, Pineapple or Diamond (Chicago) Shawl. You will learn how to make shawl from the point up. Practice increasing stitches. By the end of the class each student will walk out with a small size 'mini- shawl', with the knowledge on how to develop it to the large size and how to block a shawl. The knowledge of basic single crochet is helpful. Required materials: Worsted weight yarn, E or F crochet hook, (or other yarn with appropriate-sized crochet hook), 4 safety pins or stitch markers, scissors, tape measure, pen. CROCHET SWEATER: Thursdays: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm $75.00 (+ $5.00 for original pattern) November 20 & 27 or December 18 & January 8 or January 22 & 29 Learn the innovative technique on how to make a top-down sweater without making a swatch. When you crochet your sweater from the neckline, you can try it on as you go. The back and front as well as sleeves are crocheted together to the underarm and later separated in different pieces. Of your choice, you will make a miniature sweater or a sweater of your size. Along the way you will learn the fine technique of reading abbreviations / symbols and understanding garment shaping. By the end you’ll know how to finish a sweater. Required materials: Worsted weight yarn, H or I crochet hook, 4 safety pins or stitch markers, scissors, tape measure, pen. CROCHET BEADED JEWELRY: Tuesdays: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm $35.00 (+ $10 for kit) November 18 or 25 or December 16 or 23 or January 20 or 27 If you know the crochet basics and are ready to learn the techniques for adding beads to your project, this class is for you. You’ll make beautiful jewelry for yourself or a gift to your loved ones. The knowledge of basic single crochet is helpful. Required materials: Scissors, tape measure, pen, choice of one crochet hook (either size 6 or 8) and choice of one ball of size 10 crochet thread) and kit. (kit includes original instructions, size 6 beads (white & color), big eye bead needle, 2 clasps (one silver, one gold) and felt. CROCHET FLOWERS: Tuesdays: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm $35.00 (+$ 5.00 for original pattern) (By appointment only) Crochet your own original flowers using different yarns. You will have a selection of several crochet flowers by the end of class, as well as the knowledge to produce many others. Required materials: Worsted or sport weight yarns in different colors, size F and G crochet hooks, safety pins, yarn needle, pen. CROCHET WITH COLORS: Fridays: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm $75.00 November 7 & 14 or December 5 & 12 or January 9 & 16 This class is an introduction to Intarsia, Fair Isle Stitch and learn the basics of each method as you knit samples. Learn to chart a motif, calculate yarn amounts and work with bobbins. You will also focus on crochet and finishing techniques used in each of the design methods. CROCHET CIRCLE: Wednesdays: 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm $20.00 per person / session Join Tatyana’s circle on Wednesdays starting November, 2008 and ongoing every Wednesdays. The circle is designed to have you work at your own pace on a project of your choice. Bring any crocheting project and/or questions. You will receive assistance to finish your project. Keep in mind this is not a teaching class but a guidance class.
